About Mahenderagiri

Mahendra giri is the highest mountain range in South India. Mahasivaratri is celebrated with fanfare here. Here is the temple of Varaha Swamy. It is located 90 Kmsfrom Srikakulam between Tekkali and Sompet. A Lord Mahendera (Shiva) temple sits on the hilltop amongst the most picturesque and scenic surroundings. Mahashivaratri is celebrated in a grand manner here which attracts pilgrims from all over the country. According to an ancient folklore, the Pandavas lived here for a while during the period of Agyatavasa.
