After his smashing hit "Shivamani", Nagarjuna teams up with hotshot filmmaker Puri Jagannath again in "Super" to come up with an action film revolving around bike races and robberies. It is a trendy concept that demands a trendy look, sporting long hair for his much-awaited release. The plot is familiar, but it will have a gripping narration according to sources. The makers got a three member Australian crew for the action sequences. They have worked for film like "Madmax" and provided safety for some breathtaking actions. Nagarjuna claims he faced difficulty in handling the powerful 1,000 cc bikes as they would zoom off in a fraction. Now in his 20th year in films, Nagarjuna denies that his latest film has similarities with the Hindi hit "Dhoom". "it has no similarities but after atching "Dhoom" we realised that we can make such action filled movies in India" says Nagarjuna. Nagarjuna is also full of praise for the performances of his female actions Ayesha Takia and Ankusha. The actor, who is said to have put in more that Rs.100 million for the movie, says" "The script justified the budget and I dislike discussing it". Adds Jagannath about what he claims is the costliest film of his career: " it is a tale of two close friends who turns foes, leading to breathtaking actin. "We all just wanted a winner" he says, denying that his film is only for the urban youth.

Director Shanker Monday, June 27, 2005 | Pavan
Director Shanker is synonymous with extravagant movies. His oeuvre mixes socially relevant message with entertainment. His films that have message never failed at the Box Office. After hugely disappointed Boys, he bounced back with Aparichitudu. In a freewheeling chat with the media at Hyderabad he shared his views about his films, his career and his future plans.Excerpts from the interview. How did you get inspiration to do Aparichitudu? Before I became a director myself, many things like the negligence in our citizens used to disturb me a lot. I have been making the films with the elements and issues that distrub me. I have a traveled a lot abroad. I wondered when I learnt that many East Asian countries have made rapid strides within the short span of 20-25 years. Why can't we become wealthy like them, when we have huge intelligentsia and manpower. That made me to think and I have developed a storyline with that. But how did the producer accept with a thin storyline? Actually, Oscar Ravi Chandra has immense faith in me. He came to me and asked me to do a film for him, with whatever the subject I like and with any str I like. That immense faith and freedom was the real burden than anything else. It seems you like to do a lighter film and a serious film alternatively? No. Actually I like to do every kind of film. I have desire to do a film in every film genre. But alas, I have been slotted here in an image that i make serious film and lighter venins alternatively. The romantic films like Jeans and Boys were an attempt to not to fall into a slot. But youth flick, Boys, almost endangered you years of reputation and popularity! That is the problem here. people like to slot you into an image after you make three films. Audiences and others had imagined me as a film director who makes only socially relevant films but I tend to make each film differently. They were diapointed with teh Shanker not with the film. As a director I have desire to make a devetional film too. But Boys was nothing but stylized and grand telling of films like Tullavado Illamai and Chitram? That is what I am saying people would have accepted that film had it been made by a newcomer. So you repent over the film now? No. But I have learnt a lesson from this film. "What I should do or what I shoud not do" is the lesson that I get from Boys. We heard that you orginally wanted Aparichitudu to make with Rajnikanth with a cop story? What happened is that I just told the line at very early stage to him but as people would not like seeing Rajini playing an insane character we dropped the idea. It was at the stage of stratches It is nothing like that we went on to sets and dropped. In Gentleman and aparichitudu you have unabashedly shown you protagonist as a Brahmin. Is there.. (He interrupts the question and replies) I want to explain this. When the film's theme came to mind, I have imagined Aparichitudu is a person who appears witha long hair that covers his entire face, save to his two eyes. So I thought of casting either a Sikh or Iyer or Iyyannager brahmin. Making protagonist as Sikh in Tamil/Telugu film is out of question and then I settled for this Iyyanger Brahmin, as Gentleman had Iyyer Brahmin, But I tell, it was related to the film's theme, there is not deliberate intention to glorify one cast. It is touted that Aparichitudu is the costliest South film ever. It seems you are fascinated doing only big budget films? I don't know whether aparichitudu is the costliest or not. I am not going to say that. But producers and others like me to make films in grand manner. They always reply when I try to plan a small budget film tht why should I go small budget movies when there are number of other film makers to do such films, They like to see me doing exytravagant films. So my films naturally look like grand flicks. But as a producer you tasted success with a small film (Kathal in Tamil)? Yes, but had the film bore the name that it was directed by Shanker, it would have been rejected. It was clicked because of Balaji Shaktivelu's. There was news that you are going to direct launch film of Chiranjeevi's son Ram Charan Teja? Really? I am not aware of it. It is news to me. Right now, I have yet to come over the success hangovver of aparichitudu.

Aparichitudu Tuesday, June 21, 2005 | Pavan
Director Shanker's films have always been big budget extravanza. His Aparichitudu with hero Vikram is no different. But unlike other Shanker's films, in Aparichitudu it is hero (Vikram) who steals the show than the director. It is for Vikram's knockout performance that Aparichitudu looks interesting and engrossing. Actually, Shanker's tepid narration in the first half almost seemed to kill the film, but it bounces in the second half with hero Vikram's amazing finesse at portraying three varied roles as menacing Aparichitudu, an innocent lawyer Ramanujam, and hep and suave Remo. In the second half, hero Vikram makes everyone sit up and watch him in awe. The film's theme is not so good despite Shanker's lofty intentions of making India powerful and corrupt free but a new angle Multiple Personality Disorder (MPD) makes the film interesting. Actually, he seems to have inspire by Sydney Sheldon's novel "Tell Me Your Dreams". He also mixes Jim Carrey's "The Mask "and his own films, Oke Okkadu and Bharateeyidu. Anyhow, revealing the film's plot would kill the interest. The film starts off with hero Ramanujan, a lawyer, telling the people to go by rulebook and adhere to laws. He is innocent and loves madly his childhood friend Nandini (Sada) but she doesn't like him, as he is too preachy. Meanwhile, he keeps comlaining about errants in the society to an Aparichitudu who maintains a website. And that Aparichitudu starts killing the way in Garudapurnam written. When Nandini commits a wrong, Aparichitudu tries to kill her too. Then it is revealed that beneath the innocent Ramanujan lurks the menacing Aparichitudu. The rest of the film is about revealing Aparichitudu's identity and his reasons behind murdering the wronged men. Starcast: Vikram, Sada, Prakash Raj, Nasser, Vivek, Nedumudi Venu, VMC Haneefa and others.

Andarivadu Saturday, June 11, 2005 | Pavan
ANDARIVADU Govindarajulu (Chiranjeevi) is a labour leader who enjoys life in his own entertaining way. His son Siddhardh (Chiranjeevi) heads a popular TV Channel. Govindarajulu raises his son Siddhardh on his own as his wife dies when Siddhardh was a kid. Siddhardh and Swetha (Rimmi Sen) fall in love. They get married,. But Swetha has a secret mission of separating father and son. The rest of the story is all about whether she succeeded or not. Chiranjeevi: Chiranjeevi is superb as Govindarajulu. He proved once again that he is the king of comedy. His manerisms and dressing style are very appealing to masses. Chiranjeevi is good and pretty as Siddhardh. He has shown tremendous variation in mannerisms make-up and voice modulation. This film runs with 80% credit going to Govindarajulu character. In the scenes involving father and son characters in the same frame, you end up watching Govindarajulu only.
Heoines: Tabu is pretty natural and had a very little make-up. Sunita dubbed her voice. Rimmi Sen is just adequate. She is spontaneous as naughty girl, but could not emote well in the scenes where she shown her negative attitude as wife. Rakshita is good though her role is limited. She danced with Chiranjeevi in first and last song of the film.
Others: Prakash Raj is good though his role is limited. Pradeep Rawat is OK as villain. He tried to show cruelty with terse expressions. Brahmanandam is good as a jealous colleague of Chiranjeevi. MS Narayana entertains with his English speech. Sunil is excellent in the second half of the film.
Analysis: First half of the film entertaining though there is no story. Second half of the film is a bit of let down, There is very good entertainment in the film, but there is no depth in emotions .This film suffers from lack of conflict as both the son and the father characters are shown in positive light, Hence it is virtually impossible to break the trust and bond they share. The plus points of the film are Chiranjeevi's performance and Comedy. The vital drawback of the film is storyline provided by Bhupati Raja. For all its positive and negative points, Andarivadu is definitely worth a watch for Govindarajulyu Character.
