Subsidy for Christian pilgrims

The Andhra Pradesh government has announced an offer of subsidy to the Christain community for pilgrimage trips. Similar to the subsidies offered to Haj pilgrims, the government would give out subsidies for Christians who want to visit holy land of Israel. "My government has decided to extend the Haj pilgrim scheme to Christian minorities also for their religious visits to Christian Holy Lands in Israel." stated Governor N D Tiwari in his address to the Assembly and Council on the opening day of thr budget session. There are about 1.2 million Christians in Andhra Pradesh which account to nearly 1.5% of Andhra's total population. --MP
